SYSTEM SUPPORT - LOCAL DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE SERVICE SYSTEMS - COMMUNITY EDUCATION

EDON Place undertakes a range of community education activities each year to raise awareness of domestic and family violence in our community. To promote a joined-up and holistic response to people affected by domestic and family violence in the Bundaberg region, EDON Place promotes across-agency partnerships and collaboration.

Our Service is active in speaking to children in schools and community organisations about respectful/healthy relationships, speaking with allied professionals about the services we offer and providing specialised support for working with issues of domestic and family violence. EDON Place regularly facilitates an educational domestic and family violence awareness program. EDON Place is a lead agency in this catchment area for activities during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, held in May each year.
Our local domestic and family violence service system program consists of:
  1. Providing domestic violence information and resources to community organisations to help support and respond to people affected by domestic and family violence in a timely way.
  2. Participating in interagency networks, DVCAN, Child Protection Week activities and the Local Level Alliance focussing on common understanding of domestic and family violence, shared practice and common principles for intervention that prioritise safety and where the needs and issues of victims are clearly identified, managed, and addressed.
  3. Participate in DVCAM a model for responding to high-risk cases that is consistent.
  4. Providing domestic violence information to local schools.
  5. Developing and disseminating a range of resources about domestic violence and dating violence.
  6. Information sessions, forums, and workshops.
